Synopsis
朱允炆的童年到登皇继位 一个热爱生命、温和良善的十六岁少年，沉醉于自己的世界，祖父的残暴、父亲的早逝、外在环境的险恶并无伤他的善性。 皇孙继皇位 建文继位后，顿成权力斗争的焦点，虽然他几度想放弃王位，却无法违背天意，而方孝儒的出现恰使他认清皇帝能造福于民，于是决定实行新政。 杀机四伏 燕王朱棣图谋篡位，烽火四起，生灵涂炭，仁慈的皇帝重情重亲，以致错失铲奸良机。 血染宫帏，逊位逃亡 燕王攻破京城，建文为解除官兵及百姓的苦难而自愿逊位，不料皇叔未守诺言，大开杀戒，建文见方孝儒惨死，悲愤交集，本欲自焚，幸被忠臣救出，穿上太祖为他留下的袈裟化身逃亡。 复仇之心，逃亡之路 想到文武百官、恩师亲人及无辜的人因他而惨死，建文誓言复仇，于是风声鹤唳中逃亡。在此期间受一位江湖朋友拼死相救，两人终结成生死之交。 桃花源里养精蓄锐 建文帝辗转来到云南，投奔皇叔沐王，在此受到庇护，隐姓埋名，卧薪尝胆，伺机复位。热情的堂妹渐渐对他产生情愫，他却爱上温柔灵秀的女伶，再加上途中失散、现已是锦衣卫的生死之交，四人展开一段缠绵、情义两难的感情纠葛。 爱恨情愁，你死我活 沐王女儿疯狂地爱着建文帝，在她得知两人的真正关系后吞剑自杀，他深爱的女伶竟是生死交的心上人，而生死交却是敌人，最后女伶黯然离去，生死交亦死。经过这一场爱恨情仇的洗礼，建文的身心俱受重创。 顿悟前非，出家为僧 这时复仇的计划已完善，大军组成，沐王虽痛失独生女，仍履行诺言，欲助建文帝复位。但建文帝此时已认清自己，看透人生，回首自己30年的生命竟造成百万生灵为他而死，虽然贵为天子，但亲情、友情、爱情皆不可得，再三思量，建文帝不愿再造成另一场腥风血雨，决定出家为僧，一生苦修。
